I have about 200 pounds of fiber optic cable. The price I'm getting quoted is 70-80 cents per pound. Sell or hold?

I didn't know u could sell it. I can get a lot but I don't want it. Don't know what to do with it. My local windstream office where I get my wire and modems from throws away hundreds of pounds a week. If I could find a buyer for it, ill catch it before the dumpster gets it.
let us in on this one. I've thrown away at least a ton this year alone.

All of the fiber I have worked with was always glass, Kevlar and plastic.
Is the Kevlar worth money? That would be surprising.

I just did a quick internet search and apparently Kevlar is recyclable. I can't find any prices though.
Sounds like something new for someone to figure out.
Your buyer must have thought cat5 cable.
In the last few months my business has added ewaste. Moslty servers and ups backups. I also have tons of fiber cable. Its used to connect these server racks. The cards are worth $$.

Perfect timing for this topic. I have a bunch of fiber patch cables, new in bags, with various connectors and I've been trying to figure out the best way to monetize them. I threw one lot with the same type of connectors up on an ebay auction and they sold quickly, another auction did not.
As for what to do with bulk scrap fiber, I wonder if it would be worth picking up a fiber termination kit and creating your own patch cables, then selling them. Fiber is wicked easy to test, the most basic way is simply to hold a flash light to one end and look down the other, if you get a strong light you should be good to go.
The only metal I've seen the fiber cable I spliced at the phone company was the aluminum or steel armor under the plastic sheath. The yellow single mode or
orange multi mode jumpers where basically plastic, kevlar and glass as mentioned above. Sell if you got a buyer.
I'm just glad reading these threads. I'm definitely starting to get it, I don't know what it weight, did't waste anytime with two dumpsters full of fiber optical cable sent it out with plastic and paper.
Hi guys new here figured id throw in my $0.02
I own a scrap yard in Charlotte NC, and I myself do not have a buyer for fiber optic cable. It is def not the same as cat or com wire.. The kevlar and teflon in these wires are very good for recycling.. thats why most of your com wire gets exported and not run through the chopper..
to the start of this post. if you are getting paid for your fiber optic that has no copper in it SELL!
