WwooOoww...steel down to 140 GT by me!

2 yards nearby dropped to 140 GT while others are at 170 GT which is down 30.00 also. Yikes, may have to stockpile for a bit.

Just got $0.11/lb on shred two days ago. I think it tends to be localized and revolves around meeting contracts. Mike

My yard has been screwing me for quite awhile at $150/ton, and that's the "dealer" rate. Walk ins get $120/ton. Another yard is paying $80/ton. One of several reasons I hate this place.

Down to 140, or .07 a pound at my regular yard, travelled an extra 25km to get 165 a ton, or .825 cents. So I got an extra 50 bucks on 2 ton, was worth the extra distance. It was a nice, clean, paved yard to boot. I'm gonna like it there....oh ya and there is a beach not too far away!(says the wife)

I would like to know how big(or small) the yards are that are paying the lower prices. If these are small yards they might be reselling to a bigger yard. Or like Mike said it could be a contract thing. If they already met their contract then they don't need the steel so bad and can try to get as much as they can for cheap. The yard I go to has been steady at 200 per ton.
