Based on the LME (London Metal Exchange) nickel price today at $8.78 and knowing that 601 is 60% nickel, the get on this commodity would be around $5 lb. delivered to the mill. I would quote you around $3.50-$4 lb. because its something that will probably sit around the yard for a while and I would be assuming all the risk if the bottom fell out of the nickel market.

301 SS is slightly magnetic and most yards try to give you number 1 steel for it. It has less than 10% nickel. 304 SS is the minimum grade stainless that is completely non-magnetic and has a min 11% nickel which around here you get $.60/lb. I deal with this type of stainless a lot and can tell you this is the highest prices i've seen in about 2 years. 316 is slightly better than 304. Do a google search im sure there is plenty of info on this matter.
