Took a small load of pc metal and got $0.095/lb. They classified it as shreddable. Clean aluminum was @ $0.45/lb., alum. cans $0.60/lb., stainless 304 $0.40/lb.. This is in Hickory, NC.

There are multiple scrap yards in my area and shred prices range from $140 nt to $180 nt.

The yard paying $180 nt has a massive shredder that has to be fed every day.

The $180 nt is down from $190 nt in Oct and $200 nt in Sept.

Cast iron and #1 prep are at $200 nt at the same yard.

The coasts have squeezed and now the Midwest has squeezed as well.
Yesterday at my best paying yard $160/net ton

Looks like the party is over on steel until the 1st part of 2015!

I had a yard employee tell me there was a troy oz of gold in every computer tower.

Another yard employee told me 2 years back the prices would start rising come October. All they've done is drop at that yard.

Not every yard employee knows what he's talking about.

I mean sirs probalbly right. i was at this small yard a few days back that i used to buy things out of shred pile for ebay. he said that lately they have been shipping there metal out as soon as they get it . It takes days for there shred pile to grow. They ship out there wire when there bins arent even a 1/4 full. i think they are afraid there jobs will be cut. he said that they have only been working 3 days. Who knows
