we went from 210 bout 6 months to 189 a ton... A hour west of Chicago
Took a small load of pc metal and got $0.095/lb. They classified it as shreddable. Clean aluminum was @ $0.45/lb., alum. cans $0.60/lb., stainless 304 $0.40/lb.. This is in Hickory, NC.
$70/GT for light iron $ .03 /lb
That hurts the wallet a little.

There ain't nothing wrong with an honest days work. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.- Old Man
We were at $120 last time I was in, stainless had dropped $0.20/lb since when I first went, everything else was the same but aluminum went up to $0.55
I just noticed the drop here too. Down to $150/gt shred, 140ish/gt white goods.
METAL IS MY MISTRESS...PLEASE DON'T TELL MY WIFE!
Just got 70/GT on 11/3. Also everything else dropped also.
There are multiple scrap yards in my area and shred prices range from $140 nt to $180 nt.
The yard paying $180 nt has a massive shredder that has to be fed every day.
The $180 nt is down from $190 nt in Oct and $200 nt in Sept.
Cast iron and #1 prep are at $200 nt at the same yard.
Columbus, OH 11/4/2014:
$195.4/GT shred
$.22/lb for Irony Aluminum
$2.52/lb for #2 Copper
The coasts have squeezed and now the Midwest has squeezed as well.
Yesterday at my best paying yard $160/net ton
Looks like the party is over on steel until the 1st part of 2015!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!
It's gona be a long winter !
Alvord iron and salvage
3rd generation scrapper and dam proud of it
$.06 a pound for sheet iron... $120.00 net ton sucks and sucks again!

Yesterday afternoon dropped a few things to get them out of the way for more (hoepfully) today..... .0775 / pound, down from .0875 about 2 weeks ago. North Georgia.
I had a yard employee tell me there was a troy oz of gold in every computer tower.
Another yard employee told me 2 years back the prices would start rising come October. All they've done is drop at that yard.
Not every yard employee knows what he's talking about.
Sirscrapalot - The Sky is falling.
Just called my main yard - shred price is $190gt. Down from $245 over the summer.
I mean sirs probalbly right. i was at this small yard a few days back that i used to buy things out of shred pile for ebay. he said that lately they have been shipping there metal out as soon as they get it . It takes days for there shred pile to grow. They ship out there wire when there bins arent even a 1/4 full. i think they are afraid there jobs will be cut. he said that they have only been working 3 days. Who knows
