Question Is Granulated Copper Worth More ?

I am looking at a machine that shreds copper wire, than separates everything leaving behind up to 99% pure granulated copper ... My question: is higher purity granulated copper worth more than normal copper ?

Scrap yards wont pay anymore for it if they will buy it at all...due to foreign metals that could be mixed in.Foundries usually are the only buyers and then you have to wait 60 to 90 days for payment.

How much wire do you produce each month to need a granulater

I run a meduim sized granulater where I work and my recovery on #1 insulted come's out at around 70 to 76 percent not 99. #2 around 49 to 60 depends on how much #1 is mixed in with it.

    Brassbuster,

What is the cleanliness level of the granulated copper...do you have a bit of wire insulation get by the separation and get into the cleaned copper? Is it worse with finer wire input?

Typically turnings, chops, or anything machined like that is worth less than solids. That type of material is easily contaminated, can hold moisture, and or gets spilled in the shipping and handling process. With solids less of the material is exposed to these risks.
