I am looking at a machine that shreds copper wire, than separates everything leaving behind up to 99% pure granulated copper ... My question: is higher purity granulated copper worth more than normal copper ?

Scrap yards wont pay anymore for it if they will buy it at all...due to foreign metals that could be mixed in.Foundries usually are the only buyers and then you have to wait 60 to 90 days for payment.

I run a meduim sized granulater where I work and my recovery on #1 insulted come's out at around 70 to 76 percent not 99. #2 around 49 to 60 depends on how much #1 is mixed in with it.

Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.
Brassbuster,
What is the cleanliness level of the granulated copper...do you have a bit of wire insulation get by the separation and get into the cleaned copper? Is it worse with finer wire input?
Jon
