#2 insulated wire with ends on

Well a new scrap yard opened up here and they are starting to change how the other yards are buying items. They take all grades of steel which is good as you can now get prepared prices for steel when before all peddlers just got shred price. Well now they have a copper content category $.10 lb for cord ends and cut off Christmas light bulbs. They say #2 insulated wire must have no ends on at all. At my main yard I (hopefully) can still take my #2 insulated wire with the female ends on and brass prongs pulled out of other end. My other wire like phone cord,s rca jacks and such I would cut off those ends and get shred (one time I got dirty brass price). So it looks like a good deal for the cut off bulbs and the ends that I would only get shred for.

It seem strange to me that they would have the cord ends listed as copper content and not brass. Most of the metal in cord ends is brass.

Yep $.30 dirty brass and $.10 copper content! I am going to give them lots of cut off Christmas lights

I cut some of the brass clips off the end of a plug and weighed them at 1 gram each.
I just don't see the money in it.
And pulling out the actual clips but leaving the plug on and selling it like that, "ah, not me".

I have no option here, they only pay one price for insulated Copper wire, its the lowest price possible and the want the plugs cut off.
Even with that, cutting the Brass pins off is not worth it for me.

I know it's an old post but were you talking about CFS? Do they still buy plug ends as copper content? I asked the small scale guy if I could get dirty brass for the plug ends and he told me they were shred. But maybe I should ask about copper content.
