I'm seeing .11/lb for steel and 3.85 for #1 at my yard in Harrisburg, PA.

I have a large steel scrap job coming up next week. Hope prices hold. I was actually hoping to negotiate for .12 or 240/T

    What's everyone else seeing?

good haul jersey. prices are holding steady up here. Went to a different yard today...

insulated copper wire $1.50 a pound
    electric motors-.20
    tin-190 a ton
    #1 pp 280 a ton
    sheet alum-50 cent

these are the ones i remember off the top of my head. ended up getting $118

i also got about 20 pounds of stainless but its magnetic... should i just throw it in with my tin pile? i heard the non magnetic stuff is the stuff they want

Yeah, the yards don't bother buying the magnetic stainless, but technically it is worth more then steel because it is alloyed with chromium.

Just took a load today and got a price sheet. Examples:

    #1 Copper - $3.25
    #2 Copper - $3.10
    #1 Steel - 0.13
    Tin - 0.0950
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

    Today's Trip to The Scrapyard

I took a split load of 5 categories to Diamond State Recycling in Wilmington, DE which was probably a bad idea for a Friday afternoon. The place was mobbed and it took a lot of time to get everything processed. Still, it was worthwhile trip.

    63 lb 316 stainless @ $1.00 / lb = $63
    1,040 lb. #1 prepared steel @ $16 / 100 lb = $166.40
    1,300 lb. light iron @ $12.50 / 100 = $162.50
    280 lb aluminum siding, gutters, angles & plate @ $0.65 / lb = $182
    100 lb electric motors @ $0.25 / lb = $25

Grand Total = $598.90. Now, I just need to get the volume up so I can take a load like this every day.

Just out of curiosity, what was the 316 from?

From the swimming pool ladder we discussed in another thread. Thanks for the tip when you told me it was probably 316. I told the yard I thought it was 316 so they pulled out the gun and sure enough it was.
