Down 25% at CAD 150 / MT today. Local prices went up after everybody else, but they were faster to fall. By the time of the year, a price drop was expected, but I suspect another decline to follow.

NEW TO SCRAPPING? READ THIS: Build up your horde of magnetic and non-magnetic metals in two piles until you have a better understanding of the business. Magnetic material has low value and is mostly always steel / shred / short iron. Read old threads about non-magnetic metals and ewaste (and how to sort them), but don't forget that they generally have absolutely no tolerance for contamination (screw / iron / foreign material).
Prices normally drop into Summer for one major reason. Auto makers typically shut down for a month every Summer for re-tooling. During that time they do not need iron, etc., so why buy any?
Also, there is more shred entering on the market after the snow melt, thaw weight restrictions are over, spring cleanups are done and building construction returns to full throttle. Many factors to the supply and demand equation.
Ive been getting 8 cents/lb consistently for a few months, 10-11 for heavy steel
Another drop for steel prices

It's up in the air at the moment whether we sell as planned or I torch it myself this weekend and sell as HMS instead (and since it's all industrial equipment, get the benefits of the radiators, harness wire and such). Will update, with photos if I end up torching it. By a couple of country miles my largest steel transaction so will be something to learn from for me anyway.
You are quite the beast sir....torching 300 tons of scrap in a weekend
Oops
Shred down another 30/ton. now 165/ton.
Oof. Still at $170 here with a drop pending
$150/ton at Sioux City. Down from $175/ton
