We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

We're still at $0 in Wyoming. We're the first to have prices fall, and the last to see them rise

Something is up with these guys. At my yard, they told me they would only pay tin price for my small motors because there was too much steel on them. So next time I went in, I had them cleaned up. They said they would only pay tin price for them because they were too small. They paid tin price for my computer and power supply fans because there was too much plastic on them. Last time I took some in they paid motors price. Also last time I went in I thought I was finally getting a fair price for everything and didn't bother to check my receipt. When I got home I realized they didn't even pay me for my aluminum, and they paid tin price for aluminum-copper transformers. I also don't like it when the usual scale guy tosses the tote with my #2 copper on the ground and then rifles through it, causing the copper to fly everywhere. When I go to pick it up and put it back in, he tells me to stand behind the yellow line. Seriously, every time I go there they change the rules. I'm starting to get fed up with going there and having to constantly stay on my toes.

And as for the so-called price increase, I just went there the other day after getting a text about prices on all metals going up. Prices were actually below what they were about a month ago, the last time I went in there.

I try and mix the small transformers and motors in with the other motors I bring in. I am sure if I brought in a bucket of computer fan motors by its self they would not pay motor price on them

Thier price list for aluminum transformers does say same as tin. For motors, they must be copper wound and they have 2 prices, over and under 75 pounds (each motor). I've never tried computer fans or copper aluminum heat sinks there. I do those at a different yard. Fans go as copper bearing at 4 cents. Copper aluminum heat sinks same as copper aluminum radiators. I did get screwed (at a yard in mass) on dirty copper aluminum heat sinks. They paid dirty aluminum, said there wasn't enough copper in them. Next time, I'm cutting the magnetic screws off.

That wasn't the point. I know about the price sheet. The point is that I'm getting tired of new rules being invented every time I show up there.

If this and being on your toes is how you feel each time lately, perhaps you need to bring your business to another yard.
    Price isn't everything.

Coppers dropped here more in the last month than the whole of last year.

I don't know exactly how this will change prices at my yard yet, I normally get a slightly better price for metals than the NZ website I quote prices from.
Except for Lead, 1/2 the price due to logistics.

But if Steel rises, I expect to see it in two or three weeks when everyone gets back to work after the summer holiday break..
