    Motor and Transformer Price

Just took my first load of motors and transformers to my local yard in Woodstock, IL. I primarily take in copper and shred and get decent prices that align with what I see here. Took in 75lbs pounds of motors (two 27lb motors and the rest small) and 48lbs of transformers. I only got $.05 a pound for each (they were separated). I was expecting at least $.15 a pound for them based on what I have been able to pick up here. What is everyone else getting for these?

There are no other yards nearby, but I know of one that is strictly non-ferrous a couple town over. I might just save up a larger load and work it into some sort of trip over there. It just sucks because I live in a 600sqf apartment and don't have a lot of room for storage!

I took almost 1300 pounds of transformers to the yard today and got .25 a pound. They have been around .5 and .10 a lb for several years now.

Call first american metal in morris. I was quoted today at a much, much higher price this afternoon. I can't guarantee they will offer you the same price but its worth a try.

That is the sort of deal where you want to know the price first.
. I think I get NZ$0.50 cents a Kg. That's close enough to American 25 cents a Lb to me. Exchange rate & such.

Its just that this sort of sale is a 6 monthly or more situation and you don't want to get ripped off, as a bad price, you might consider the space used more valuable.
I had something similar happen a couple of months ago with 'Plastic coated Copper wire'.

Last month I took in a couple barrels lost my mind with 8 cents. Up to 12 now. If I could justify the 2.5 drive to Hamilton I could get 20. Just wait with thus EU cap going on I'd imagine everything will drop again till things calm down
