We finally climbed UP to $60 a ton last month. I got rid of it all before it dropped again. It's back down to $50 now.

Been at that price for a long time.

People still take in shred? I've been using it to hold down tarps..

Who knew there was value in it these days.

Anyone buy a anchor made of various pieces of scrap?

    Hudson Maine (B&S Recycling)
$70 / ton light iron and motor vehicles
    $110 / ton prepared #1 Iron

Bangor Maine (AIM Recycling USA LLC)
$90 / ton Light Iron / complete vehicles
    $130 / ton #1 Prepared
    $120 / ton #2 Prepared

Our prices have stayed steady for the last couple of months but we dont know how much longer there going to stay that way. Prices are valid as of 9/21 I just visited both scrap yards with light iron in the last 3 days.

I'm not picking up anything that's mostly tin. Its just left overs from ac units, computers, water coolers, microwaves etc.. Occasionally some one will drop off a water heater, W/D or fridge when I'm not home I just strip it and throw it on the trailer. haul it in only when its full. Once a month or so. its either that or PAY to take it to the dump.......

    Prepared iron $30/ ton
Unprepared is $15/ ton includes Vehicles
Shred......no value; you can drop it off but won't get paid.

I bought a running Mazda with a battery today for $30. The tires go back to the owner. Has electrical drain on the battery and tranny shifter sticks at times.

Vermont (or my section of it) is coming in at about $.025/# but that was from a load a couple of weeks ago. We have another going in, tomorrow morning, and it may have dipped further.

Our yard seems to use "shred" and "lite iron" interchangeably.
