The guy with the 4WD helped out a friend of his today who was shifting a couch & had hired his own trailer.
So the guy dropped into my place & picked up the heavy steel (steel weights, fridge compressor steel, railway spikes & such) I had, and the mix of light gauge/Aluminium. ( plasma screen Ali backing sheets, bike rims, server case etc)
We only got ' lightgauge ' prices for it... But I wasn't getting the $ anyway, they were, & they got NZ$29 for 730kgs.
I think it should have been classed as HMS, & 'Ali bearing Iron'.
But its off my property & that's looking cleaner, & its the last of my scrap steel gone & probably paid for the trailer (with high sides) for the couch, something for fuel, Six pk of beer & some CocaCola for the driver.
Alls well, ends well.

Sheet iron $90 net ton
Gas on the eastern side of the state was $ 2.05 and on the western side of the state $ 2.18 two days ago. Scrap price for unprepared is $ 70 per net ton and prepared $ 140 in the east.
Give back more to this world than we take.

Gas $2.799 gallon
Shred 105 at one yard, 125 at the shredder yard.

Shred is still 100 a ton and gas at $2.99 a gallon last week. I don't believe one has anything to do with the other.
I hate to say this but at these prices doesn't everything go in shred...........Plastic/wood/fabric etc............Does this have anything to do with the low prices.........by that I mean the quality of the metal stock that we produce...........The way I understand it the fluff is separated out...........I know that "fluff" was able to be sold but does it still have some value...........Look at today's car........Alot of plastic.....Oh well
BUYING ALL COMPUTER SCRAP WORKING OR NOT

It does if you use gasoline to collect scrap metal and then sell it, if gas is high and metal is low, that's less profit for you
I know but think about it. Everything needs transported. If fuel goes up - so does the price of buying things - and the price of metal will be affected if fuel goes too high because the yard isn't making a profit anymore either, they have to sell and their buyers use fuel to pick it up and transport etc...
NewZealands price for 100 Octane Petrol is US$5.75 a gallon.
( NZ$2.35 per Litre 100 octane. 91 octane is NZ$2.02 litre )
NZ$ 1.00 =. US$ 0.66 cents
Aluminium domestic is NZ$1.07,. &. Extrusion is NZ$ 1.51 per Kg ( average prices atm )
Copper domestic is NZ$6.21,. &. Copper #2 is NZ$6.88 per Kg. ( Good prices atm )
Steel is HMS NZ$175, & Lightgauge dirty is NZ$100 per Ton (1000 Kgs ) good prices
Our NZ $ has dropped a bit from the previous rate of US$0.70 cents.
This has pushed petrol up a bit, but not as high as 7 months ago 2.46 litre 100 octane,
but a few months ago it was NZ$2.08 for 100 octane.
Most cars run on 91 or 95, its about NZ$2.05 for 91 octane & supermarkets give up to 20 cents off a litre if you buy over $80 of grocerys there.
Our car parts are ridiculously overpriced, even with the exchange rate, we pay 3 times what i can find @ Rockauto prices.
NZ$110 for a US$24 part...a Audi Oil cooler.

Both the large yard and the feeder yard are about the same on prices.
#1 Iron prepared 2x5 120.00 $ a ton
#1 Unprepared 80.00 $ a ton
There's usually a seasonal increase at our gas station. It starts going up in the spring and then levels off and stays unchanged through the summer.
They broke the pattern this year. The price did go up to 3.00 $ a gallon but then started dropping again.
Two weeks ago ... price drop to 2.90 $ a gallon.
This week ... another ten cent drop to 2.80 $ per gallon.
