Gold rush

Ok I bin reading alot about getting gold from electronics. I have bin scrapping as a hobby for a while now but never opened a computer I just always gave them to my brother because he's a computer wiz an always uses parts. Same with a cell phone. So last night I get a call an pick up a computer,cellphone an microwave an figure ok Ima start collecting this gold from in side. So I seperated it most of the ram chips had silver tips what's that? But one things for sure a cought the gold rush an started watching videos on utube an doing my homework on it. Where else do you guys find some decent gold?

It's a very strict and regulated socitey and they only allow a few new people in each year. Just kidding...

The fingers on the ram you have are probably tin not silver.

You will make most of your money from the steel, aluminum and copper. Your gold will be considered a byproduct since there is such a small amount in a computer.

Gold is where you find it...

There's definitely no gold rush in 1 computer, 1 cel phone, and 1 microwave... but it's all gotta start from somewhere. There is no miracle place to get "decent gold". It's in a lot of scrap - how much and how hard it is to get to it all depends on the scrap. You could have 10 pentium 4 computers sitting in front of you and not get the gold yield as you would from 1 dual cap pentium processor. And it's a whole other story on processing that gold once you get enough scrap.

I've stripped about 500 computers in the last 4 months and even then it's not worth my time and effort to collect the gold and try to process it myself. Out of all that I have stripped, I would have probably dropped between 1-2 ounces of gold from all the processors, pins, flatpacks, connectors, and finger boards. That would be all great, however to get that gold I would have to handle hazardous materials, deal with deadly gas fumes, and wonder where and how I'm going to dispose of the environmental sludge waste. There is a whole other forum dedicated to doing this type of refining and it's not for everyone. I looked, lurked, read books, and watched videos for 8 months. I finally decided to leave the refining to those that have the ability to do so, and just sell escrap at about 60% of what i would have made refining the gold and other precious metals.
