Hi guys,
My name is James. I'm 26 years old and from Maine. Just getting into scrapping. I made an introduction thread explaining a little about me in the introduction forums. (I can't post a link because I don't have those rights yet.)
I have a few questions that I would be very appreciative if I could get some assistance with.
To start, my biggest problem right now is that the yard local to me wants me to get
Freon removal stickered. The issue there is that, as of right now, I don't know where I can get that done for free, or for very low cost. I am currently sitting on one AC (which I am yet to pull apart). I'm scheduled to pick up a standing freezer tomorrow along with another AC. My dad even has several fridges and other
Freon stuff. As of this moment I can't turn them in, so it's just cash sitting there. How have other people worked around this situation? I assume, based off logic, that I should try other yards? There's only 1 or 2 around me. I'll check with them but I would assume their standards are the same.
My next question relates to
e-scrap. I understand that there's a lot of value in different e-scrap. However, I'm having difficulty understanding where I'd send the "circuit boards" and other stuff. Do those go right to the scrap yard, too? If so, is that the reason why a lot of the e-scrap is worth it? Take your boards, other misc metals, sort all the wires, and get rid of the plastic? (Unless you're going to keep the plastic to try to sell, too.) Is this mostly for computer towers? Or will it relate to just about anything that has a motherboard?
I have a few other small questions but I don't want to bombard you guys. That'll be it for now!
Thank you so much for the time reading this, and any of your answers to my specific question. Sincerely, much appreciated.
-James
