They will not take the ones that have PCB's in them. Ballast come in different shapes and sizes...the better ones being the ones used in industrial lighting and there's the ones used for florescent lights that some yard take and some don't. Seems they tend to not like paying CBM do to the sticky tar like junk inside. I'm no expert...just what I recall reading and my experience at the yards I have been to.

...my yard takes them at close to "copper bearing motors" price... has to say "no pcb" on it or they throw a fit...

I recently found a bunch of ballast (I think). These have a ni-cd battery in them about the size of 2 D batteries end to end. Also a low grade circuit board. No transformer like a normal ballast. Is this a ballast or something else? I assume the batteries are for some type of emergency lighting? Ever seen these?

My yard is temperamental about these. They won't take them as even shred if they are already detached from the fixture, but will take them if they are still attached. Boggles the brain, I tell you.

The three yards I go to, one dosn't take them at all, one take them if they say "no pcb's" and the other takes all of them @.20 per lb.
