    Briggs and Stratton #1

I've gotten several loads from this guy so he called me when his deceased in-law's house sold and he's cleaning it out. I'm getting all metal stuff and anything else I want. One thing I got today is a Briggs and Stratton engine he said is a Model #1. It's stamped "N1". I'm hoping to find a forum for old gas engines. Anybody had any experience with this ( the engine or forum)?

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Mick I can't tell you anything about that motor but I went to the briggs and stratton auction years ago and bought all the Die cast machines and cut em up. It was a sad time to cut them up as the old employees stood around and watched it happen. I kinda hated it but no one else wanted them for reuse so to the scrap yard they went. Those machines probably casted that motor or it was made at that plant. Sad times in america right now.

Thanks, all and PSP, I agree. I'm going to be taking pictures tomorrow when I get it all unloaded. I got several things I think people might like to see. I got first bids and the wife got second. She looked it over on the trailer tonight and pulled some things. There's a couple guys around here who come by regularly to see what I've gotten, so I'll be emailing them. Still got a basket case Honda 750, Wheel Horse tractor and Craftsman air compressor to pick up. I've got a buyer in mind already for the Wheel Horse.

I got some older B&G on push mowers recently, and called a small engine repair shop to ask if he could use them for parts. He said probably so, I just need to take them by there so he can see them. The newer ones are likely made in china, and even though they mount the same, and some outer parts interchange, I'm certain they're mostly different inside

Picture of the engine, as promised. I'll put up a couple pictures of the load on another thread.

Briggs Model 1 is a 1/2 hp engine from 1940's. these are cast iron and heavy for their size so I don't even bother listing them on fleabay. The Maytag, Clintons and Power Products engines are mostly aluminum construction. A half the weight buyers will still look at em.
