I took mine a few days ago to one of those gold buying places. Get a comparison price from a second buyer before you sell.

If you live near a Craigslist city, you could also try on there, as there may be shop owners/hobbyists who would offer you a fair price for it.

If u scrap it at a cash for gold remember the knife handle is full of plaster and they will deduct for that. Also, Sterling is 92.5% silver, not the full deal, and just like us, he will probably offer you 1/2 melt value.

Just did the math, if there is no butter knife at 11.2 oz he'll probably offer around $145-150. There would be $291 melt, so see how close you can get to $250.

are you weighing in troy oz or regular oz, makes a differance in how much you have, what does it weigh in grams without the knifes. also if you have a pic i may be able to look up the pattern.
whatever you do dont go to a cash for gold or anything like that. try an antique shop.

all spoon and forks no knives its all from 30's area as its stamped on them. its regular ounce from postal scale .. thank you you guys are awesome

chrisc, looks like about 10 troy oz, silver at about $27 oz, $270. depending on the pattern you may be able to get more than that at an antoque store.

do the rogers spoons say sterling anywhere? I have found in my dealings that rogers flatwae is almost always plated. IF its all sterling you should be able to get someone local to give you 80% of spot on that stuff. AT todays price that would be about $212. Here is a good calculator for all you peeps not in the know. IF you cant find anyone that will pay you 80% of spot for let me know Ill buy it if you ship it to me.

"WM Rogers was a producer of many silver plated pieces and only a very few sterling pieces. I would say 99% of it is plate. Make sure that this piece is stamped sterling, .925, or 925/1000 somewhere on the piece. If not, it is plate and worth very little in the open market."

Brandon is quoting you spot price. I would say that you would be hard pressed to find anyone to pay you spot price. On top of that, .925 or sterling is only worth about 80% of spot like PTS stated

I found a buyer in my area that was happy to pay spot price. Today also it is lower than it has been so a sellers market.
