    radiation counters

Anybody know where to purchase (online or physical store) a radiation counter? I want to have one on hand in case anyone wants some oilfield pipe picked up. That way I can test it in advance instead of getting turned away at the scrap yard (then I have to figure out how to get rid of it).

those look pretty low scale , do not confuse dosimeters with friskers , when frisking make sure you get the background reading first

Good idea Wayne. It will pay for itself by saving you from one bad deal.

I had a customer bid on 3 huge incinerators. He was doing the job for the price of scrap. He brought the first one to the yard that weighed about 10 tons and when it went through the radiation detectors it read hot so we had to reject him. Needless to say, he did the whole job for free because no yard in their right mind would take any radioactive material.

You're looking for a Geiger counter. I have one but use it a lot. I paid $700 for mine but you could find a used decent one on eBay for under $200.
