I have seen zinc listed on the price boards, is this a common metal and where would it be likely to show up?
Thank you for your feedback!

Zinc is sometimes referred to as Die Cast or pot metal. Fan blade brackets on ceiling fans are usually die cast.

Where I find zinc is: hot wheel cars (sacraligious if you scrap them), the metal emblams on BBQS... They appear to be aluminum, but are zinc, door handles on screen doors, some lawn mower gas tanks, some lawnmower (mostly lawn boy) frames, flex fittings on gasoline/diesel gas pump nozzles, chain saws that are made of metal cases... I can find more examples, but don't have my bucket in front of me.
Zinc and aluminum are similar in color.... easiest way to tell difference is, get something similar in size to the zinc piece in question and zinc is the heavier piece.
Deal with several yards and one yard I bring all my cast al. to becuase they let me throw zink in with the cast and pay me cast al. price for it. Mybe becuase they don't know any better IDK.
most of the server hard drive brackets are die cast. Wish I could get alu price for them. }:<{(
