....the price of gold dropped 50%? I'm guessing that the whole PCB recycling industry would dry up? Your thoughts?

I was wondering the same thing. I dont think it would dry up entirely it would be like any other industry. The ones that operate economicaly would thrive because the others would shut down.I dont have the exact statistics but according to what i have read even if gold dropped back to 800 an ounce it is still cheaper to process ewaste than raw ore
Gold will still be needed in the manufacturing of electronics I assume

I don't think the PCB industry would dry up. People still need computers, right? The price of the board would just get cheaper I would assume?
Prices would fall but PCB have higher up to 40x amounts of gold than ore does, so as long as it is cheaper to process then ore than it isn't going anywhere.
What happens if the price of steel gets cut in half? Some people sell to the yard anyway. Some people hoard until the prices go up. Either way the companies buying the product amend the price they pay so that they still receive their margin. If they can't make a margin, they stop buying
Escrap is just the same.

I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said, "How do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say, "Go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny?" No. You'd say, "You look nice... John""
