Big 4-5 inch industrial valve question

As you can see in my other ad Im doing a heating scrap out on a commercial building. There is huge valves for maybe 4-5 inch pipe. Maybe bigger. Bastards are like 50 lbs each if not better.,

Now I noticed they are are all steel except the center screw and nut holding the handle on. Are these worth to strip down for the brass or right into the prepared pile?

Sorta look like this one here I found on google.

I think it would be worth it if you can get the nut and bolt out without to much trouble. Also check the other bolts as some are ss. Hope this helps a little.

The movable internal parts should be brass also. Break one open and check it out.

I have a strong feeling that the brass alone is going to net you more than the prepped steel will, so heck yea separate it.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

Ok decided to clean it. Had to go buy a wrench as my toolbox was 45 miles away. On a side note, since was one wrench 10 bucks at autozone? Crescent wrench couldn't get in there. But yes indeedy brass valve, nut, and stud. The stud is one piece with a round moon looking disc at the bottom.

Didn't have a scale, but have to say the stud and moon must have been 3 lbs or a little better. So roughly 1.85 x 3 equals 5.55 usd. This not including the two nuts, one that holds the handle on and the other behind the handle. So Im guessing $10.00 per valve in brass at current pricing.

Guess one valve paid for that wrench lol.

So yes to answer my own question, guess its worth it. Took 10 mins with impact gun to rip it down. Also on these valves a good thing to remember you need 3/4 wrench and impact socket.

Bigger and smaller valves may different in nut size.....
