Hi, there`s quite a bit of Qs I have been wondering about and I hope people might be able to answer them.
1) To get an idea about prices in the market , there are prices such as scrapmonster, amm and al.
How much time does it take for the change in prices on these indexes to trickle down/affect at your level?
Also, how many people at the scrap yard level actually check these vs. simply reacting to what the guy higher up the supply chain charges him?
How much deviance is there from these prices at the local level/different part of North America?
2)For you to do business with somebody overseas, what proof do you need to convince you that the other party is legitimate?
What payment processing do you prefer?
3) Do you pay attention to the non-scrap spot markets at all? How about the futures market?
I saw people on the forum reference kitco.com to negotiate with other parties, but I couldn't find
scrap prices on it. What is your rule of thumb when using this data? It says they are not the same as the LME prices, so how do they get the spot prices?
4) For those who have exported to Asia, what kind of clearances/permits/etc do you need to do so? Does it take a lot of time to acquire them?
5)For logistics do scrap yards usually have their own fleet of trucks or do they prefer to call upon a third party?
Thanks a lot.
