Got these out of some UPS's. Feel like aluminum but act/look like lead when I scratch them. These came out of metal cased UPS's. The plastic cased UPS's had regular looking heat sinks, smaller batteries and no transformers.

I had some of these (didn't even think about it and just threw them in with aluminum)........Which pays more aluminum or lead?

Aluminum will usually pay more as scrap but I've got a guy who wants to buy any lead I get to cast bullets.

Maybe be a dumb question but if they were lead wouldnt they be on the heavy size in relation to their size?.if they didn't dent after hitting with a hammer I tend to think they would be stainless steel. Lead will mush up like bear said. Like when you use split shot fishing, the lead shot can be closed with a pair of pliers or even between your teeth.

Brasscatcher - that's why I said they FEEL like aluminum (they're light). I haven't tried the spark test yet. Probably will tomorrow. They just don't LOOK like stainless steel and, again, they're too light.
Could it be magnesium? They use that in older laptops also.
