yup..
sounds more like red brass and yellow brass
I agree with Bear, I never heard of gold copper. I mean copper is copper, maybe he is talking about a coated copper but never seen gold coated copper.
The copper that looks red or orange has a varnish on it used to insulate.
I am looking in an old computer.. Many of the coils are a dark red non insulated wire... then there is the standard copper wire in it??
Like Phantoms said it has a varnish on it . Take a file and scratch it and the copper color will come thru. You find it on the cones in monitors and tvs as well.

Yeah it's coated copper or coated aluminum. You'll also find this in some electric motors. Always scrape the wire with a file or knife to make sure that it's copper and not aluminum.
Pure copper has light red or brown color. When copper is oxidized. it is green. Copper can form alloys with other kinds of metal. Here are three common ones.
Brass is the alloy of copper and zinc and it is known for the yellow color.
Bronze is the alloy of copper and tin which is known for its green color.
White brass is the alloy of copper and nickel. Its color is like silver.
