    E waste question

What type of aluminum is the heat sinks on top of the CPUs? My e waste buyer also buys non ferrous but he has a different price for Extruded alum. An clean. but a seperate price just for heat sinks. Couldn't I just throw them in my cast bucket? I try not to ask him to much because Im still learning an don't want him to know that an take advantage.

you have to handle it with your local yard. I have one who pays me mlc Med li copper, have one who pays me alu sheet one who pays cast. when they are actually none of the above. a lot will depeped on volume. this business is all about volume.

Most of the heat sinks on the top of cpu's are extruded aluminum. You need to pull the steel clips off the heat sinks to get clean extruded price. The yard I bring mine to pays .60#. Some are aluminum and copper, if it feels heavy check it with a file or grinder to look for copper, I've even found some to be copper and ss.

The ones that look folded around the fins are not extruded, those usually go with old sheet.
