    I would have to believe is evacuated of refrigerant and I would break it down to copper , aluminum, motor and insulated wire and light iron (shred). If they don't have a refrigerant removed tag on them you cannot just throw the in shred pile here locally.

    I've called my scrap yard and they said they take freon appliances with their shred and they don't have to be removed of freon
