Cool Anyone ever seen red RAM before?

So I just pulled this red ram out my little RAM stash and realized it's the only memory stick I've ever come across like this. Anyone else seen anything like this before? Oh, and Merry Christmas to y'all here on SMF!

Aftermarket performance memory and motherboards sometimes were made in different radical colors. I use to deal with high end gaming equipment and most like me prefered the aftermarket look.

You do? I sorta have to go along with Andrew in the post above and think I prefer the coolish aftermarket/customized kinda look myself. I mean Everybody has seen green RAM but my original question seeks to find (number wise/rarity) how many others in here have seen or have on hand, red ones. Now, through you, I'm stimulated even further, learning of your blue versions of non-typical RAM. Soooo, like, could you post a pic of them colorful sticks of yours, for all us less fortunate E-scarpers then dude?

Thanx Gus, any idea what type of metal that is? Is it magnetic? Do you take that cover off when you sell them? Do you know what this RAM is from, I haven't come across one of these yet? lb

Right on brother, I'm seeing where ya, that could be the trend right there. Geek stuff for uber-kool gamer crowd. Hmmm, that right there already puts them in a more "rare0ish " catagory for me so far. Thanx for your input. Have any laying around anywhere to shoot a pic of for us in here? lb

Thanx JG. So, does that mean you have used them and weren't pleased or that you just don't dig aftermarket stuff in general? lb

Yes! It's what you stop to buy(after you stopped to buy your new computer) on the way home, so you can get your new computer up to date ; )

Here's you some red RAM, LB, that didn't come from China. It came in an SGI 540 Visual Workstation, first released in 99, I'm not sure the year this was made though. I bought it from NASA in about 04/05. It has 3 rows of these, and 4 XEON CPUs

Bear I hope that your keeping that machine or at least send it to me.

From wikipedia: Because of the various SGI enhancements, in particular for the 320 and 540, Visual Workstations often out-performed Intel PCs of similar configuration in graphically-intensive or memory bound applications.

Oh WoW Bear, now to me, THAT right there, is a beautiful sight! Thank you for sharing this delightful group of high-tech ex-NASA computer parts with us all. So we add some history, and how you got 'em like ya did, and there my metal hunt'n friend, is one of the big reasons I'm even on this forum. It's like, an awesome instant whack of inbound, totally verified, knowledge that I can bank or bet on now. My single little stick of red RAM, means WAY more to me now Bear, because of your help with my original query. Now, a perchance question friend. My stick, a DDR400, has 16 chips on it @512 Mg and has the brand "Eudar" printed on each of them. So, would yours be the same manufacturer maybe? What would the odd's be on that eh. lb
