Where can I find: Motors, Copper transformers and generators?

I'm looking to recycle the above 3 items and have no idea where to begin. What places do I have to call to find them?

I seen items that I wanted to scrap in these video's: what are they and where can I find them?

    #1 YouTube
(Video title: Gypsy scrap motors vanyas load)

    #2 YouTube
(Video Title: Gypsy scrap daytona Johnson scrapping in PA watch the video at 2:40 to see what I mean)

These Gypsy guys sure know how to scrap. Where can I find these 3 things?

Sounds to me you want to start at the top when you don't even know what your doing. Most of us had to start at the bottom and work our way up. After 5-1/2 years I'm still on my way up. Most of us didn't have this forum to study and ask questions and most of the scrappers I ran into wouldn't even give me the time of day let alone answer my questions. Start small, read as much as you can on this forum, find a good scrap yard and get to know the people there. Put the word out as too what your doing and what you want to do. Remember what you want might not be what you want when you get it. This is just my .02.

    My best guess is..........

    1. You can steal them.

    2. You can buy them.

Now a days people know this stuff has value. The only way someone is going to "give" you stuff like that is if you do some networking and establish a relationship. Like what was posted above, you have to start at the bottom, get your name out there, when you do things that help others out they will think of you when things like that come up. If you are expecting some stranger to just hand you over several hundred dollars in copper, good luck to you, let us know how that works out for ya.

Your other option is to buy them at auction. I've passed on large transformers at auction that I thought went cheap (20.00) because I just didn't know enough about them. You can find good deals on them if you know what you are buying.

this forum is gr8 for new members like myself but be prepared for the competition to get even tougher because of forums like this. people love sharing tips on how to make money but few realize those tips are taking money out of someones pocket. just saying... seen it happen with the poker forums. poker is a different animal but it's all about making money.

with that said, here is a tip for ya ScraperRick: checkout craigslist, yakaz, kijiji, backpage, oodle... to name a few. just search free ad sites and you will find some motors. the material your looking for is going to cost you so do some homework and figure out what it's worth. gl
