Quote it by weight and take a scale with you. You can't eyeball something like this until you're really sure of yourself.

So do I just take a regular weight scale I would find at wal mart or something? And I guess I would just call the scrap yard to get the prices and then go weigh them?

Get the prices first and figure from them what you'll offer. First estimate I did was a LARGE pile and a couple small ones at a junk yard. I was WAY low but he took it and I made several thousand dollars. Best way is offer to "split the ticket" - haul the stuff in and give him a percentage of the ticket. This doesn't work in some circumstances, though.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
