I was wondering if anyone has scrapped a floor scrubber like the industrial size. It looks like the casing is plastic but I'm wondering if the motor and cord would make it worth the trouble breaking down. It has approximately 25 feet of cord to plug in so, that would be insulated copper and I'm sure the motor is pretty big but would there be more copper inside the casing. I can get it for about $60. Working condition is unknown.

I have scrapped one, but you will not get $60 worth of scrap out of it, even if you took the copper out of the motor. It does have a big motor in it, and when I took the motor apart I found about a dozen nice strong magnets in it.

I've never scrapped one but for $60 you will lose money if you want to scrap it. You would have to have a 120lb motor or it would have to have 20 + lbs of copper to break even.

I agree that the scrap value is not there. However, if it is working it should be worth much more than $60. The least I have sold one for, which was a 30 year old 10", was $200.
