Sorry for asking but how are you going to move that truck? 1/2 inch plate is HEAVY the truck must weigh 10 ton or more?
Always try to resell rather than scrap. Do you have pics?
It would be the ultimate scrap machine...if you can get it running.

Can you tell us the make and model of the dump truck, the engine, size of the hoist, etc. Certain diesel motors are valuable to many individuals. The hoist is another valuable part. My suggestion is to advertise on Craig's List etc. I would be looking to sell the valuable parts and work into the deal hauling it to scrap. If you cut it up, I would recommend working a deal with your scrap yard for larger dimensions for prepared iron. The half inch plate is valuable to many individuals and you might be able to sell it separate. If the box is in good condition, it has more than scrap value. Your yard maybe interested in the prime parts because they usually have more contacts than the average scrapper.

Please keep us posted of your progress. I have two dump trucks that I am parting out in more detail than explained above. I would appreciate your strategy.

I saw the bed part, no hydraulics just the bed, of the dump truck go for about $1800 at an online auction once. A small dump truck generally weighs around 20,000lbs Definetly worth more than scrap.
