So, the Pc scrap field is going down a bit since most ppl dont hv much at the PC shops and gold went down a bit.
So I'm looking to go into a new field that would work WAY better. I just want something that's consistent -- what should I go after

One thing I learned is that NOTHING is consistent when scrapping. You have to make it a steady flow, call your contacts and ask if they have anything non ewaste related. Shop at curbco on garbage night. Take the initiative and be proactive. If you are waiting for the phone to ring I suggest you change strategies or get a 9-5 job where the money IS consistant.

I am not being a a-hole but you have started 21 threads and 15 of them are all questions, have you been reading any old posts and learning anything? We all try to help each other here but you have to put in a bit of effort as well.
Diversify! No one is going to give you the keys to success but they will definitely sell them to you. Seriously though no one is going to tell you how to make money the way they do. It's almost like going into a company's office and asking them how they make their money so you can do the same.
Really you have to look at all avenues depending on your hauling capabilities, storage space, and what people buy in you area. All of the education you need is on the board...
Paper, cardboard and plasyics especially are plentiful these days...but you have to have a buyer AND it takes alot to make any money. If yiu have a buyer, baler and the space go after that. If not, regular metal in addition to escrap....otlr better yet items worth more than scrap to resell...great profit margins if you k ow what you are doing...like reformatting and reselling hard driver, test ram, test cpus and motherboards, powet supplies. Even brass and pewter candlesticks....yard sale finds ect....spend the time learning from others on here, youtube ect and have at it.
My suggestion is to look around at the other scrappers (craigslist, etc.) see what their buying, advertising for, and go for something different. There has to be a niche market there. Some of this depends on your capabilities, equipment, tools, contacts, etc.

"the money is out there you just have to go out and get it" my dad told me this when i moved out but i will add to it with this " you can always pay the bills with hard work, but id rather work smart than hard"
i could tell you 100 different ways to make money with scrap but its already been done 1000 times over in this forum, buy a membership, make an ad and read up
and if you cant deal with prices going down your in the wrong line of work, we have to take the good with the bad to be scrappers
I buy and sell all types of scrap and escrap. I buy specialty and hard to sell escrap. I buy resale items. PM me or contact me at jghilino@hotmail.com

The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. The scrapping business is like any other business to get started in, it takes alot of hard work, 10-12 hrs per day,6-7 days a week. Things change and you have to be able to change as well. Some people get into scrapping when the prices are up and think they are going to stay there. When I first started scrapping I worked a full time job and scrapped 6-8 hrs per day braking down electronics. I would bring a truck load and I mean a full pick-up truck full of e-waste and only get about 150.00. If you get up-set when prices drop a little maybe you get a 9-5 job.
Ok well I have been iN this business 25 plus years, the only way to survive in my opinion is to have a steady flow of material, you also have to work smart, that being said with a limited bank roll the way to go is auto body shops, they are always concentrated in certain areas of the city cutting down on endless time wasting searches. They always have scrap sometimes more then others but they always have it.We do not pay them for there tin/shread but I do buy there rims, rads batteries, harness wire and what ever else they have.i would advise you to get some business cards made with auto body shops as your main business,if you do not already,Have some shirts made with your company name and logo on them.Start handing out your cards offer steady reliable pick ups that's what they want, pick up a portable scale on e-bay to weigh there material,it will not happen over night but it will happen, good luck
