I always ask and they are usually suprised someone wants it.

I also scrap on a mountain bike to save money, and because i'm not liscenced yet and ive gotten some large stuff like computer towers and monitors and even a step bar for a quad cab truck, and a 30" flatscreen. It can be done, its not pretty though
