Finding scrap yard that also sells

I've been calling some local scrap yards looking for scrap yards that have a certain type of pipe. All only purchase scrap and can't sell. Any suggestions on how to best search for a scrap yard that is willing to sell?

    Thanks,
    Nathan King

As an idea, supposing that you want to buy in large quantities, advertise as a Buyer here on the Forum. Specify in the title that you're wanting to buy from scrap yards. There are several yards represented here.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Are you looking for second use pipe? Any specific lengths or dimensions?

Buying from yards works better at small ones. You need to be able to directly go to the decision maker / owner. Employees at large yards - corporations, will have their hands tied with procedures and rules and won't want to bother.

Not sure for other areas, but I know here on the sandbar, my main Yard had to move to the mainland, so they could resell auto parts and the like. Said it was a county thing. Currituck wouldn't let them resell auto parts an other stuff, so they moved the yard to another county. So could be a county/permit/liability thing.

Only idea I can suggest is to ask the yards you know of or can find near by, if they say no, ask'm why.

you might want to talk to some of the contractors, demolition crews, etc in your area that might work on a structure that would have had this type of piping in it.
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.
