Has anyone here ever broken down & scrapped a Treadmill?

Just like the title says. A machine designed to waste time, to get you nowhere - literally; without it, your daily 5 mile run would get you...well...5 miles. With it, you've gotten nowhere. What a terrible invention, might as well (gently) rip it apart, I say!

But does breaking down a Treadmill leave you with a worthwhile prize? Or is it just as much of a waste of time as actually using it "as intended"?

Here is a Treadmill sitting in the dirt, covered in dirt, in my backyard (...side yard..). It has sat here for about two + years, maybe more.

Apologies for the artificial, poor quality, light. The only light source is my lizard light...I'm not sure the name, the kind with the bulb in the center of a black metal funnel, used to heat up your lizard

I do all my scrap break downs in my backyard after midnight. My neighbors love (despise) me. Honesty, I am amazed the HOA hasn't told me to cease & desist my operations by now...the neighbors probably think I'm a tweaker or something. Hah

Edit/ img isn't showing? Been a while since I've done this. Here's the upload link.

Hey Jay, believe it's a motor, an medium grade board? If I remember past threads correct. There is a couple at the bottom of yours tho, might help you out better. Think I also recall seeing some folks reselling some parts.

    Hope it helps.

Here's a link to the thread I was thinking about...just follow the quote.

Break it down to make more money. Take the motor, wires and any aluminum. My yard takes plastic and other none metals on there schred steel it's some kind of ratio but I never push it. If you break it down you would problely need to remove that board under the running surface so I just trash it. Good luck.

Why do breakdown so late, aren't you considerate of your neighbors?

Motors in some treadmills can be used to charge batteries.

I used the frame & rollers to make a wire stripping machine for solid wire.
I use it every time Romex comes through my door.

Be sure to carefully remove the motor. They can be used to make wind turbines, so if they are in good shape, you can re-sell them. I actually have a treadmill I've been sitting on for a while waiting to rip apart. My grandfather and I are going to try and make a wind turbine out of it eventually to try and create electricity for one of our farm houses. I'm sure I'll make a thread showing the process of how we will make it, IDK when that will be. lol

Yes, pull the motors and the wires. Most of the ones I've broke down were all steel and the boards were low grade. I doute the motor is any good to use after being out side for over 2 years but you can still scrap it.
