Heat Sink Heaven (an update)

Awhile back I either posted or responded to a post about large heatsinks. I took 2 of them out of a very large UPS system and decided to list them rather than sell as scrap. Well, you can file this under "you can sell almost anything on eBay"....

Those are some pretty big AL heat sinks. What kind of UPS was it?

wow! I really never thought about selling heat sinks on ebay. I guess ill need to go through my tube of heat sinks and see whats what.

I cant remember exactly...maybe a Mitsubishi? It was a large cabinet, probably 60kva or something. Batteries were all missing and wasn't sure if working, so I parted it out. Still have the 350 amp breaker that came from it listed on eBay. I have another UPS system, 3 large cabinets, posted online for $5k+. Cant imagine the size of the heatsinks in those, but not going to scrap it unless I need the money fast.

Yea, that's exactly what I do. We got a defibrillator so out of curiosity, I looked on the inside and all the cables were cut. They cut them so people wouldn't run around town zapping people (you know some idiot would do it ).

Anyways! If I replace all the cables, I can sell it for about $2700. Scrap value wasn't a whole lot.

You might want to get a company to certify it after you replace the cables. Not sure what it would cost but might help it sell. Good luck with it...I love finding medical equipment = $$$

Holy Cow! You are correct. If you can just find the right two people to run the bid up, you can sell just about anything. Congratulations!

I hardly ever do auctions. I just set a price and if it doesn't get much action in awhile I drop it or change it to "or best offer". I give it a few more weeks or a month or so and if no luck I scrap it. Always good to have that final solution. But the items I sell are not conducive to auctions as they are usually not common items that a large number of people are looking for. With my ebay store the listings are free anyway.
