    anything worthwhile in welders?

I have several friends with broken tig/mig welders of varying sizes and kinds... I was wondering if there is any valuable metals in the typical welder besides the obvious ground wires and plugs? Any ideas? Most of them will probably just get tossed as regular steel if I can't convince them to break them down

They should have a transformer in them, but i would see if they have a CL resale for parts first.

Look into selling parts or fixing them. there should be copper inside them somewhere
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

I scrapped a very old AC arc welder and it had 95lbs of copper. You will need to check the transformers to see if they are copper or Aluminum.

yup, now I'm posting again to tell you that life doesn't come served on a silver platter. You need to find it yourself sometimes. I'm wasting your time now because people don't like to answer easy questions. The expectation becomes that that person will answer every question every time.

I'm told on a regular basis that I need to just "go figure it out". I learn a lot better that way, unrelated to this topic because my superiors don't know much about anything, other than yelling at me for not getting everything done when they want it... which was yesterday.

    Here's a little more help:

    Copy and paste this: www.google.com
then copy and paste this: what is a transformer

Not sure whats inside of them, since they are rare and I've never taken one apart, but my guess is there would have to be some copper or brass. Sorry I couldn't help myself

I'll scrap anything, but I agree with above on resale unless they are harbor freight stuff, just the mig gun on a miller or l-tec would go crazy $$. The roller system that feeds the wire would be expensive also. Anything to do with the argon delivery. I don't know anything about tig welding tho just mig
