I think I read on the GRF that someone was picking up plates/dishes with gold edging and was refining them.

The guy who does get the gold off them says its not worth it.
He has a solution of acid in a container and saves up the glasses untill he has a lot.
Then he gets his filter mask and adds peroxide to the acid and let's it eat the gold off till the acids full.
Then he puts it away for another day months later.
The clean glasses he sells again to make his money back. He also strips broken glass.
Basicly, 3 things.
1 Its very dangerous
2 There's no money in it.
3 Its very very dangerous.

I have standards people! They may not be high but they are standards!
Now whiskey, cognac, beer(mugs!) I can down with, specially if they look cool.
Last time I went to Epcot at Disney my wife banned me from two places..the tequila bar in Mexico(Tons of choices! An they sell bottles outside of it!) and the store in Germany that sells the Steins an beer mugs. I could easily spend a ton of money in both places an be quite happy.
Sadly she doesn't see it the same way I do.
Edit: Oops mean to add..You could sell them to a pawnshop if you have one that buys such things. The one I frequent down here is because...1. I'm friends with the son, who runs it with his dad. 2. They mostly do jewelry.
They are a pawnshop, but Jewelcrafters first. 4 generations of them. They make their own Jewelry an are kind of picky(the dad is) on what they will take on pawn. I love dealing with them. Their usually my first stop if I get any old jewelry or antique-ish type items or stuff I'm unsure of the value on. Knives, jewelry, glassware, dishware, I've taken a lot to them.
They always pay me more then the yard, but less then if I did the selling myself, an I'm ok with that. Would rather flip some silverware for quick cash an get back to playing the game then holding on to stuff like that for days or weeks awaiting it to sell. YMMV.
