Question for folks familiar with central AC units

I got a call from a fella to pick up an old Rheem central A/C unit as he installed a smaller more efficient one for a homeowner. When I was trying to load it on my dolly to load on my trailer, the access panel was loose and came off, exposing the compressor. I noticed what looked to be two compressors. Are they both compressors? I am assuming the larger one is, but the other that is just a little smaller also looks to be a compressor. I have not had time to take it apart yet, as I did not get home til after dark, and then had to go to work this morning.

Sounds more like you picked up a heat pump. They usually have a suction accumulator about a third of the size of the compressor.

The newer units use a single pump for heat and cool, enjoy the dual units while they last.
