Nasty Insulated Copper-

What recovery would you guys would think this would be. I'm not sure i could get an exact % as it is so nasty to deal with. Its grease wire and inside a hose that has stainless supports running through it.

Pretty sure its worth something, i can use it to make a load and turn some inventory faster. It has to be better than Christmas light recovery, i was thinking 40% maybe at the high end. Just wondering if someone has ever got a true recovery on this type of wire.

I had done a recovery test on some mining cable of a similar layout--3 heavy conductors, concentric grounds around each cable, with 3 smaller secondary cables. It was all rubber and fabric, 2-3/4" od. 54% recovery, but it had NO stainless cable in it. Your stuff looks to be quite a bit bigger.

You need to do the recovery test, no matter how greasy and crappy it is to do, because if you have any volume of this stuff you'll need to know how much copper you have to project what its worth. The scrappy, if he is doing his homework, will likely request a piece to do his own recovery test.

Looks to be way too much work for my efforts. As sledge said handle it once/twice and done! Nasty it is, what was it used for? Don't think I have ever seen cable like that, obviously used in "Nasty" conditions as well. Each conductor (6) looks to have teflon insulation, insulated with rubber? Then stainless covered by vinyl? Had to be expensive installation whatever it was used for.

ok i'm, it recoverd a surpring 48% give or take a couple %. It wasn't an exact even cut kinda tapered on both ends about the same.

I would take a piece of it to several yards and see what they say. Hopefully the grease is not a problem, if it is then you figure out how to get the copper out.
