Power cords for dryers

As most scrappers know the power cords for dryers have a good bit of copper in them as the cord are pretty thick. Has anybody ever tried selling the cords as a usable item? Most of the cords I come across are still in very good shape. Just wondering if it might be worth it.

They only go for $10 to $15 brand new at Home Depot, but you could try. Even $5 would be more than the yard. For 1 cord anyway.

This would be profitable if you are selling directly to an appliance repairman. But, otherwise...*puts on glasses* it sounds like a wash. YYYYYEEEEEAAAHHHHH!!!!!

I've been keeping mine separate from the regular scrap wire. Seems like a waste to cut it up. Recently I got a dryer with no cord, looks to be a fairly new dryer, but he said it squeaks. I'm going to put a cord on it and see if I can't get it going to resell.

Sounds like maybe a bearing, could be an easy fix,,,

That's what I'm thinking. I'm trying to be more selective in the appliances I tear down, in that if it's an EZ fix, do that and make more, versus the 8.5 cents a lb I get now.

One of my 1st appliances was a washer. Guy said it wouldn't spin any more, so I just tore down and scrapped it.

By the time I got to the motor I found out what the problem was. $12 plastic coupler. By then it was scrap. Live and learn.

Try putting some grease on the pulley wheel, that's how I stopped mine from squeaking
