    Cordless 4 1/2" angle grinder

Has anyone ever used one of these? If so, what brand would you recommend?

I have a Dewalt 20 v and love it. I use both grinding wheels and cutting wheels and it holds its charge very well. In my mind very much worth the money.

I've had an 18V Dewalt angle grinder for several years. I use the heck out of it and it still works well.

However, I've found it depends on what you are doing with it and your patience level:

    1. Works best with thin zipcut disks. Not very good at plain old "side head grinding" when smoothing welds and such, unless you only need to take a thin skim off.

    2. Batteries wear out just before you complete your cut- guaranteed!! Always have charged spares with you and put the newly-dead battery back on the charger right away or you'll be outta luck!! I work with 4 batteries...the 2 that come in kits aren't enough.

    3. Works well on thin material--1/8" or less. But plan on going thru batteries if you start on anything thicker. That being said, I won't hesitate to cut the head off a 1" bolt. But I would think twice about cutting 4" channel.

    4. If you plan on using it away from home, get a charger that will work from your cigarette lighter in your vehicle--or an inverter so you can plug in your 120V charger.

On the other hand, my son, who is less patient than me, would rather hoist a generator onto the truck and use a corded side head grinder than screw with the battery grinder.

So, you mileage may vary!! But I've had no problems with the grinder itself.

    Jon.

I also have the Dewalt 20 V and love it. I also picked up the 20 V reciprocating saw. The new lithium ion batteries last a lot longer and charge a lot faster. Well worth it in my opinion.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

Ive used these for scrapping and on cell sites for replacing locks. I've got a milwaukee m18, klutch (northern tool), and dewalt 18. Northern tools grinder set I got for $89 on sale in okc because it was all I could find. My dewalt was at home and I hadn't got the milwaukee yet. The dewalt I got years ago when they were still $200. The trick with all of these is to take your time or your battery will go dead before the job is done. I prefer the milwaukee 119.99 at Home Depot bare tool. But in reality I'd buy whichever I already had batteries for
