I think I will call that eye candy, congrats on a great find, Mike
"Profit begins when you buy NOT when you sell." {quote passed down to me from a wise man}
Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked
Try Google the brand name "okonite". I've never seen anything that looks like that pic on the left. I get a variation of that stuff, stranded al, with copper strands on the outside. The guys usually refer to that as "primary" or "URD" (underground residential distribution). Sorry can't be more help, but that's my best guess. Great find. Can you bend that stuff at all? Looks like it would be pretty stiff stuff to work with.
Money is not the root of all evil, the love of money is.
I can't help you with any info, but I'm curious. How do you get 500 kilos of that? Did you buy it off of soomeone or get it for free? Either way, great score!
Yes I got this for free from a old industrial area in the middle of our island .They are going to clean it up and give it back to national parks to regenerate back to jungle space , ill cut it up and post some pictures of what is in side , and no I carnt bend this its realy solid.happy scraping.
Hi folks , well I started with a piece of cable 1.3kg got .3oogr of copper and a half kilo of solid ali so half a kilo waste so about 60 % good stuff its still the oddest cable ive come across ive never seen solid ali like this in cable before. The ali rod is 25 mm wide and 15 mm thick and I can not even bend it dam strong stuff.
High voltage 3 core armoured cable - Can have 4 cores.
The alu stuff is ultra pure alu-if you have enough maybe a better price.
Can be upto 6" in diametre and realy heavy
The best for yield is 'steel armoured 4 core copper conductors'-Pic 2 the cu would be steel and would be 4 not 3 cores with cu conductors.
Still great score
Thanks its always good to find something that I havent found before , ill definitely talk to my buyer about this thanks for your help.Happy scrapping.
Try selling as is this stuff is silly money to buy (£20+ per M) due to the cost of raw materials. If you have 'new' 'offcuts' you will double atleast scrap value.
British - loves to strip cable - loves 'double bubble' more - but has still striped cable he should of sold as-is.
I draged the cable out yesterday and picked it up today. This is some of the armore coated copper
This is some of the 3 core ali cable .
Hi british man id love to sell alot of stuff as is but I live 3 thousand kms away from mainland Australia $6.500 to get a 20ft sea containeer to there yard , so l strip every thing to maximize frieght costs , time consuming but worth the effort. I have just brought a small granulator so that will speed things up and help on freight. Ive got it good but just like every one I gotta work for it.Happy scrapping.
Well I think I may of found a good one today a industrial earth transformer and the oils already been drained.I have not done one of these before .Its anouther free score from the local mine.I carnt wait to open this one up and see what is inside.Any one done any of tnese before any advise would be greatly appreciated. I have read abit but theory can be a lot differant from practical knowlage, thanks and happy scraping.
