The 8 ft florescent light bulbs in everyone's trash bins are taunting me! I swear, I see 30 a day! I've searched and searched and haven't been able to find anything on their scrap value. Has anyone tried scrapping the bulb components? Are they worth dealing with the glass?! Any info will be greatly appreciated!

I do believe they contain a small amount of mercury. Probably best left alone. Here in Massachusetts they cannot go with trash.

yup
with older fluorescent fittings, the ballasts had some nice copper in them
the newer ones are a BIG disappointment
dont waste your time

By me you can drop them off at the household hazardous waste collection once a month, SO if I get them that where they go...
