    Gold from packaging

I am aware that people strip gold plated computer parts and use chemicals to get the pure gold so I was wondering which material is used to print gold letters on various packaging and if the same techniques can be used here.

It seems a lot easier to strip than a computer mainboard! :-)

(I had an example picture but the forum says I am not allowed to place URLs or images yet)

Not real gold, at least my friend who prints ribbons doesn't use real gold, they use some type of foil. I asked one day how much a roll of her gold foil cost and it was far to cheap to be gold.
