    Bale/Baling?

I was told to strip white appliances down to nothing and bring them in as bale.

I stripped down two washers and a drier in pretty decent time and I'm going to wait until I've got a full truckload before I bring it in. Also been saving the casings from microwaves and computers.

My question is: Is this the most effective way to deal with white tin?

I keep trying to get away from white tin and it keeps finding me.

White tin goes to mixed scrap for me. I don't have the space to store flattened tin, plus the payout isn't a whole lot more than mixed scrap, so I don't find it useful.

I use larger appliances for holding smaller stuff. BUT, it gets heavy - fast. I use a tractor with forks to load - almost no loading or unloading by hand.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Yup, found that out this morning. Two positives came out of it:

    - the price difference b/w white tin and black tin allowed me to pick up a nice bottle of bourbon
    - breaking down the appliances gave me great opportunity to use my new pry bar and piss the neighbours off with a lot of noise at 8 am

The scrap yard in Trenton, NJ takes white goods in one piece and pays the light iron price ($215 a ton as of March 5th).

Up to the scrapper to take out electric motors, wire and anything else worth more than the light iron price.

My yard pays the same for tin as for steel and iron. I pull out the goodies and put the rest in the truck.
There's nothing more fun and more effective than hitting something repeatedly with a sledgehammer
