Someone please help identify this metal?!!!

Hey there, I'm new to this forum and just looking for some information on a reel of cable that I found in my yard. It is stamped with a tag saying "15040 ft. 5/16" 250 K.P.C Strand. 4-6108 Gross 3295 Net 2945"
Does anybody know exactly what kind of cable this is? I'm looking to possibly scrap it and just looking for an idea of what it is worth. Any information would be awesome! Thanks.

Does the wire stick to a magnet? The gross would be the weight of the reel plus the wire. Net would be weight of just the wire. So 2945 lbs of wire, on a 350 lb spool. Now, "finding it in your yard" tells me it is not a new reel of wire. The label on the spool indicates what was on the spool when it was new. A lot of times these reels are reused to roll up scrap wire. In that case the tag on it means nothing. So without a pic, and not knowing if it sticks to a magnet, nobody's going to be able to help you.
It could be anything from galvanized guy wire to pure copper.

You should probably go and introduce yourself on the forum, then search, then ask questions.

I'll bet a Google search for 5/16" 250 K.P.C Strand might be helpful.

That's a big honking reel of wire. I wish I could find a reel of wire like that in my yard. Copper of course.

You "found" 2900+ lbs of wire on a spool in your yard? How big is your yard that you didnt know or see it was there?
