    Question Beverage air Commercial Freezer.

Got a guy wanting to sell me two of these freezers, ones a 2 door and and the other a 1 door. Got the weight and specs and they are stainless with some aluminum and combined weigh 1,100 pounds. I called the yard to see what they would get for it, and found out that as much as 65 to 70% of the weight can be insulation. Does anyone here have some first hand expirence with these types of freezers and can give me any more details or pitfalls about them. Also need to know if that estimate on the weight of the insulation is accurate.

    Thanks!!!

There is less than 30 pounds of insulation between the 2 of them but it is spray foam and a pain to clean off. Most of the units I get in are magnetic stainless. There is a decent sized evaporator in each one. Some of the condenser coils are steel and some ar Cu/Al. Almost all the evaporator coils are Cu/Al.

Sounds like you've dealt with one or two of these. How much would you give for the freezers? Stainless is going for 0.45$ and Aluminum 0.50$

    Beverage air Commercial Freezer.

figure in your time and equipment. it can be a royal pain removing insulation.

I personally would remove the easy stuff and sell the rear dirty

Unless these are completely trashed and not fixable, you are nuts to scrap them. Restaurant equipment has great resale value.

Magnetic stainless and dirty stainless are usually 2 different things. Magnetic stainless is obvious. Dirty stainless is non magnetic stainless with attachments or insulation. My main yard only takes magnetic as shred. I had a big removal job from a plastics testing company this summer. A lot of non magnetic stainless in the 3 units. The doors which would have been a pain to take apart were sold as dirty stainless at 30 cents a pound. Anything I could breakdown and clean went as non magentic stainless at 50 or 60 cents a pound.

If they're junk and not fixable then I'd charge $50-100 to remove them. At shred price you would not be making a decent wage.

I'd find out if there's anything wrong with them. I picked one up awhile back. Looked fairly new, so I asked what was wrong with it. He said he didn't know, that a tech worked on it a time or two. I took it to someone else and it needed a $100 part. Had it fixed and sold it for $1,500.
