    Enough already!!!!!!!

To all the new members who ask questions as their first post.......STOP IT!!!!

Make an intro and tell us a bit about yourself including where you are from.
Before asking questions on topics that have been covered ad nauseum try using the search box with keywords like " burnt wire" or " stripping wire" or "tin coated wire" or what ever it is you are looking for an answer to.

There are thousands of posts here on SMF and trust me when I say ALL your questions have been anserwed at some time or another. If after searching then ask your question and someone will weigh in or direct you where to look.

I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.” John Wayne-- The Shootist

About the only thing that mite help this from happening so often is if Admin put the Introduce yourself thread at the top. Above A day in the life of us.

I think Brass has a good point, that coming from a man, that read, read some more when I first joined. I also "STILL" asked my fair share of stupid questions and probably will do so again. doesn't hurt to ask all members for that matter, first to think, search, read and then ask if you still need too. So I give a second to the Brasscatcher!

I am wondering if there is a way that admin can not allow a newbie to post anywhere until they have posted in the intro section AND clicked on an acknowledgement that MOST questions can be answered by searching past posts.

I think that to a certain extent this behavior is encouraged by the Website. If you look at some of the banners on the home page without logging in, you might see what I'm saying.

Also I call BS on the whole posting pics thing...You might not be able to post a pic using a particular way but I'm confident that using Photobucket or other hosting sites will work on a first post.

There are options in the admin panel for these. How do I know? I've ran forums similar to these many times in the past. Was both moderator and admin. If for some odd reason there are no options, it would have to be hard coded in which case a php scripter would have to do it.

It can be done. I ran across a vehicle forum (Audi?) that required a post in the "Newbies here" section.

It was annoying as I had a specific question that I needed an answer to, but no big deal...

    I'd be for it here.

Lol, we got one new member that continually post in the "Introduce Yourself" and I don't think he/she has actually introduced himself/herself yet.

Many other forums I have visited put restrictions on what/when new people can post. I am a member of a beer forum and you can't post for 2 weeks after joining.

On the other hand, if everything can be answered with a search, all new posts would stop except for chatter about football, new jokes, and the status of Sirscrapsalot's cooler.

Can anyone tell me if it's worth it to scrap a tv?

An I've just been dumping the glass out in my backyard, in the creek bed there. I also burn all my copper wire in my fire pit that I use for cooking outside. I mean it's not like the fumes from the burning plastic are any worse then all that gas you breath in while smash crt tubes.

Anyhow, thanks for the tips and advice guys! Gotta go grab some wire now from a house down the street. People got foreclosed on..haha suckers!

The bitcoin forum is like this, you have to reach a certin post count before you're allowed to post anywhere else. I think such a feature would benefit SMF.

GRF has something similar if I recall for new folks.

BC an others can tell more on that.

Sirscrapalot - Off to think up more questions to annoy BC with.
